On Thursday, it was revealed through notes from a DNC meeting that progressives have found a new, secretive hero known only as Zach. This partially-identified firebrand did not hesitate to lash out at the first meeting of the Democratic party since their epic loss on Tuesday.
Zach tore into interim DNC chair Donna Brazile, shouting that she and the others in charge – hello, Debbie Wasserman Schultz – had single-handed given us a Trump presidency.
Zach’s interjection came at a perfect moment: Brazile was busy giving the party leaders a quasi-inspiring speech about how they could come together and be stronger than ever. Overwhelmed at the massive volume of bullshit he was hearing, Zach sprung into action.
“Why should we trust you as chair to lead us through this? You backed a flawed candidate, and your friend [former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz] plotted through this to support your own gain and yourself.”
Though some in the room weren’t happy to hear the truth spoken so plainly, Zach forged onward.
“You are part of the problem. You and your friends will die of old age and I’m going to die from climate change. You and your friends let this happen, which is going to cut 40 years off my life expectancy.”
Though Zach’s words were inspiring and truthful, it appears that most of the DNC was not really listening and clearly sided with Brazile.
Despite the truth being told by Zach, and the millions of unhappy Democrats and progressives, the DNC will not shake up leadership, nor pursue any more admirable strategies unless we step up and demand that we do.
Let us all be a Zach. Let us not be silent.
