Though Keith Olbermann is nowhere to be found in corporate or progressive media, the firebrand liberal commentator has been finding other ways to make his voice heard in this insane political race.

Over the weekend, Olbermann couldn’t help but shoot off a few lively tweets directed at Tennessee Representative Martin Daniel (R) who chose to represent deceased icon Muhammad Ali in a particularly negative light.

Daniel referred to Ali as “Cassius Clay,” his renounced birth name.

Daniel particularly criticized Ali for his objection to joining the military when he was drafted for the Vietnam war. At the time, the decision was particularly politicized, and today, it’s generally agreed-upon that Ali was targeted rather than simply drafted.

Besides his boxing prowess, Ali has been most remembered and respected for his comments on the Vietnam war, so for someone to take the stance that he was in the wrong is brave (read: stupid), but incorrect.

cassiusOlbermann responded:

It’s time that Olbermann stop teasing us with his backseat driving and take his rightful place in front of a camera, a radio microphone, or even a keyboard. We need his progressive voice in media now more than ever.

No, seriously, please come back to the airwaves, Kieth Olbermann!
