If you hear a politicians raging against what should be a common sense belief, you can be sure that there is a whole lot of bribery money behind those strong words.
It happens frequently with some of the most nefarious industries in America including oil, gas, tobacco, the NRA and more; They give big bucks to re-election campaigns and SuperPAC’s with the unspoken agreement that their contribution means that the politician will work to protect the industry of the person who is giving so generously.
Anytime a national shooting tragedy occurs, it is these bought and paid-for politicians who jump to defend the gun industry and urge citizens to buy even more deadly weapons. They fear-monger those who are already terrified, telling them that the government and Muslim groups are coming for their rights.
This is also why the massive store of scientific proof concerning the reality of climate change means less than nothing to most of the Republican elite. Climate deniers in Congress have received more than 73 million collectively from the oil and gas industry.
For that chunk of change, it’s easy to see why morally absent politicos might be tempted to plug their ears from the truth.
