Authorities in South Africa have reported a lion attack against five men who were hunting lions without licenses, one of the men was mauled to death. Many consider this attack a bit of justice for Cecil the Lion.

Hunter Matome Mahlale, 24, and his two dogs were killed when a lion attacked the group of poachers. Three of the men climbed a tree and another managed to escape, said local police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto.

“There won’t be many people feeling sorry for him,” said a local. “This is seen as poetic justice for the death of Cecil (the Lion).”

The lion attack occurred in South Africa, just across the border from Zimbabwe where Cecil the Lion was killed earlier this year.
