Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) is trying to get John Boehner kicked out of his job as Republican House Speaker, reported Politico. So continues the narrative that the Republican Party is nothing more than a bunch of whiny children who don’t know how to share their toys.
Despite Meadows’ effort, Boehner insisted that he has plenty of his colleagues’ support. “You got a member here and a member there who are off the reservation,” said Boehner. “I’ve got broad support among my colleagues.”
Boehner also noted how unlikely it is that Republican leaders would allow a vote designed to oust the Speaker from his position. Although that may be true, it still doesn’t negate the fact that there are some Congressional Republicans who want to buck the GOP Establishment. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is one of these Republicans, for example.
Meadows only had one strong supporter to give Boehner the boot, Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC). In Meadows’ defense, Jones said “when you’ve got a problem like we have with the speaker of the House being so coercive, then we need to do what is necessary for the good of the people and the good of this country.”
In actuality, it sounds like two Tea Party nutcases are trying to stir up trouble for its own sake. This is just a small sample of the Republican Party’s internal problems, which is something that Boehner should really cry about.
