De’Andre Johnson, quarterback for the Florida State University (FSU) football team, was dismissed from the team after a video surfaced of him punching a woman in the face. Johnson is the second consecutive quarterback to stir controversy over the alleged assault of a woman.

Unlike the incident involving former FSU quarterback Jameis Winston, there is video evidence of this attack. The victim, a 21-year-old FSU student, does wish to testify against Johnson. After a warrant was issued for Johnson’s arrest, he turned himself in on June 30 and was released on a piddling $500 bond.

What is it with FSU’s quarterbacks? Is abuse of women a requirement for the position? FSU may win on game day, but does this type of recruitment and example really justify it?
