Every time there is a mass shooting, pro-gun conservatives always use the tragedy as a case to say that Americans should have more guns. South Carolina Republican state Rep. William Chumley did just that. He went as far as saying that the victims of the Charleston shooting would be alive if they had guns. Instead, he said that they “waited their turn to be shot.”

“We’re focusing on the wrong thing here,” said Chumley. “We need to be focusing on the nine families that are left and see that this doesn’t happen again. These people sat in there, waited for their turn to be shot.”
