This past Sunday was the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, a truly remarkable feat in science and mankind’s exploration of the unknown. Creationist Ken Ham (made famous by debating Bill Nye) used the occasion to chime in about the country’s space program and aliens.
Open-carry birthers in Dallas took up arms, carrying assault rifles, regular rifles, and shotguns, and commenced an open-carry demonstration at Dealey Plaza, the site of JFK’s assassination. Their message: they’re not giving up their guns.
“Terrorists like those who kidnapped the children and killed them – the only thing that deters them is if they know that their sister or their mother will be raped in the event that they are caught. What can you do, that’s that culture in which we live.”
Just this week, the U.S. was announced as the leading producer of oil in the world. It beat out Saudi Arabia and all the other countries in the world. The U.S. is also the world leader in climate change denial. It’s a terrifying combination that leaves much of the world vulnerable to our lumbering ways.
